Alloys, especially on wheels with low profile tyres, can be very vulnerable to damage and extremely expensive to repair. Repeated damage can become irreversible, especially on diamond milled alloys as these are “shaved” on a special lathe, so there is a limit to the depth of damage that can be repaired on such wheels. Extensive damage may result in having to purchase an extremely expensive new wheel altogether.
Alloygators are hard wearing vinyl rims which can be custom cut and fitted to your wheel to protect the rim from damage. They come in all sizes and various colours, ranging from standard silver and black to funky “look at me” colours like green, pink and luminous blue. Hydro Dipping also known as hydrographics dipping, immersion printing, water transfer printing or imaging, camo printing, or water ink printing, hydro dipping is a way of applying printed designs to three-dimensional objects. It can be applied to a variety of hard non-absorbent, non-porous materials such as wood, metal, plastic and glass.
Each piece is prepped and base-coated in a colour which complements the print design, and then dipped in a water tank with the print film lying on it. An activator then releases the ink print and activates a bonding agent. When the object is lowered into the tank, the floating ink wraps around the item.
A topcoat is then applied to seal in the design. Multiple dipping can achieve full 360 degrees coverage of the item. The possibilities are endless with a combination of base coat, vinyl and clear coat choice. Hydrographic prints can be applied to interior trim, exterior trim, alloys, games console, guitar, PC, gun stocks, fishing rods, bicycle, motorbike, scooter, helmets, golf clubs, household items, phone or laptop cases etc. Anything which is waterproof and which fits into the tank can be dipped and customised.

We advise you not to try and prepare damage yourself for painting or use an aerosol in an attempt to save costs. It is impossible to obtain anything like a genuine finish with an aerosol and is false economy as it often results in higher costs when the attempt has to be undone. An aerosol paint base can very often cause a chemical reaction with any other materials applied over the top, and very usually has to be stripped back beforehand. Bodyshops are wary of working over other people’s prep work as it is impossible to know the quality of materials used or whether the correct application and cure techniques have been used.
